Iboga and Yoga
As part of our retreat programs, yoga will be available as schedule permits (usually 3 sessions per week) free of any additional costs. Guests are welcome to join in yoga sessions as often as they choose.
What is Yoga?
Yoga is an Indian practice of physical, mental and spiritual discipline. Yoga gurus from India introduced yoga to the western world in the late 19th and early 20th century. In the 1980’s it flourished in the west as a popular form of physical exercise. However, it is much more than that; it is a meditative and spiritual practice as well.
Yoga is designed to be of use for all individuals, with varying level of skill and energy. Thus, it can be done on a daily basis without risk of exhaustion or injury. At New Life Iboga, our resident yoga instructor will adjust each daily session to the participant’s skill level including optional exercises for those of a more advanced level.
Through queued breath work linked with intentional movement sequences, yoga helps create a firm foundation that promotes proper posture, deep breathing and an open heart. Yoga activates the parasympathetic system which lowers blood pressure, lowers corisol, and relieves the ‘fight or flight’ sensation. These exercises, which manually pump the lymphatic system, help flush the muscular system and stimulate internal organs. This invigoration of the immune system brings fresh blood to organs and serves to detoxify the body, helping repair the total system and bring about great calm and relaxation. New Life Iboga offers yoga sessions for any guests interested in participating. Yoga mats are provided.

OUR YOGA INSTRUCTOR
Jeanae teaches all of our yoga sessions. She began doing Yoga in 2016 within just a few months of practice she experienced such a profound transformation in her physical body and mental state that she got her yoga teacher certification. Jeanae tries to incorporate an element of spirituality into her practices that is often neglected by most Western practitioners of Yoga. She feels that through the practice of Yoga, we can better connect to where we are at on an internal level.
